The Val Gardena is a very popular winter holiday area in the Italian Alps, considered to be the most beautiful place in the Dolomites. It is located on the edge of the Sella Ronda ski circuit, so you can visit other ski resorts in Alta Badia, Arabba / Marmolada and Val di Fassa in just one day.
In Val Gardena we can find three towns: Selva Gardena, Santa Cristina and Ortisei (St. Ulrich), in addition to the surrounding slopes have grown many hotels and apartments, mostly of higher category with above-standard care for visitors.
Thanks to artificial snow, you can ski in the spring, there are also cross-country trails and a fun park for snowboarding.

Skiing in Val Gardena is simply the emotion between the peaks of Sassolungo, Sciliar, Cir and Sella. From December to April, this beautiful area invites you to taste the most exciting winter sports and to conquer up to 175 slopes with more than 84 transport facilities. In addition to downhill trails, there are 98 km of cross-country trails, toboggan runs, including: from the height of 2,282 m Resciesa above Ortisei, in Alpe di Siusi from Monte Piz, or from 2,100 m Bullaccia or from the same height from Zallinger to Saliner. Val Gardena and its surrounding areas also belong to the Dolomiti Superski area, the largest ski area in the Alps with more than 450 lifts and more than 1,220 km of slopes. The difficulty of the slopes is about 10% advanced, 60% intermediate and 30% beginner. 

Skiing here really takes your breath away. These are exciting rides, wonderful ski tours and the best snow parks ("Snowpark Alpe di Siusi") in Italy. Short waiting times on transport facilities, snowy slopes and 300 sunny days a year are unforgettable.

Ski and snowboard enthusiasts will not miss the popular slopes of the World Cup Saslong, Cir, Tre, Seceda and Mont Seura. Val Gardena is also accessible from 4 valleys around Sella Ronda (Alta Badia, Arabba / Marmolada, Val di Fassa) connecting a total of 500 km of slopes in one area. The whole valley is made up of 3 areas called the stars of Val Gardena.

It has already been mentioned above that Val Gardena offers cross-country skiing. The magical valleys are: Vallunga in Selva Gardena, Monte Pana in S. Cristina and Alpe di Siusi. It offers to see a unique, fantastic panorama. The valley has 133 km of well-maintained cross-country ski trails of all levels of difficulty. We can call it Eldorado in the industry

for cross-country skiing. Crystal clear air, meadows and forests, the imposing Dolomites - a real paradise for cross-country skiers!

But there is also a bike region that shows a fascinating view of the amount of limestone called the Dolomites. For mountain bike fans, it is a unique natural landscape in the world, which is characterized by cozy cottages and delicious local cuisine. There are very well marked mountain bike trails of varying difficulty. 1,000 km long network of trails in one of the most beautiful natural scenery in the world. The location is between 700 and 2,450 meters. While cycling, you are surrounded by the Sassolungo and Sassopiatto peaks.

E-Bike - many of you may not have tried or heard it yet, riding an electric bike. It's a trend that is literally electrifying our cycling enthusiasts. If you want to try the so-called "e-bike", or you are already its proud owner, every Sunday there is a great chance for Selva di Val Gardena to take part in the introductory course. You will surely be amazed by this new sport soon and you will also have the opportunity to go on panoramic tours of the Dolomites every Thursday.

How to get here?

La Val Gardena: exit of the A22 motorway, CHIUSA

Easy to reach by car to Val Gardena - Brenner motorway (A22)

from the south - Verona - Trento - Bolzano to Chiusa;

from the north - along the route Innsbruck - Brennero - Chiusa - Val Gardena
in about twenty minutes to Ortisei, then S. Cristina and Selva Gardena.

The end of the valley and the mountain passes are just a few minutes away by car. In Val Gardena you can also stay safe without using a car. Many guests can reach the valley by train and bus.

Val Gardena is connected to the rest of Italy by IR trains (from Verona and Bologna), IC (from Lecce - Pescary - Bologna) and EC (from Verona, Bologna and Milan). All long-distance trains stop in Bolzano and Brixen. There is a bus service from Bolzano and Brixen to Val Gardena during the day. Some hotels even arrange transfers directly from the station.

DB-ÖBB EuroCity trains provide a safe route, are fast and convenient and also save on tolls and fuel. DB-ÖBB EuroCity trains departing from Venice and Bologna will also allow you to reach your destination with your children already rested, ready to discover the charm and magical atmosphere of the mountains in the Val Gardena.

When using long-distance trains (EC, IC…), we recommend getting off at Bolzano station and then taking the regional train to Ponte Gardena. Regional trains from Bologna / Verona take you to Ponte Gardena without change. Buses to Val Gardena leave from Ponte Gardena Train Station.
