This fascinating park, also known as Sacro Bosco, is one of the most unusual and interesting tourist destinations in Italy. With its magical atmosphere and bizarre statues, it attracts visitors from all over the world who want an unusual experience.

Parco dei Mostri, also known as the "Monster Park", is located in the small village of Bomarzo in the Lazio region, about an hour's drive from Rome.

History of the Parco dei Mostri

The Parco dei Mostri was built in the 16th century and its origins are linked to Prince Pierfrancesco Orsini, who was extremely fascinated by Renaissance art, philosophy and mythology. In 1552, after the death of his wife Giulia Farnese, Orsini decided to build this park in memory of her.

The name Parco dei Mostri, comes from what you will see in the park - a number of unusual and often terrifying sculptures that represent mythological creatures, monsters and allegories. Although the park was originally designed as a place for meditation and reflection, today it is known for its fantastic, surreal landscape.

The statues and mysteries of the park

The park is home to more than 20 monumental statues that are scattered among the forest paths and pools. The most famous and most photographed sculpture is the giant head, known as the "Giant's Head". This imposing sculpture depicts a giant face whose mouth goes inside the creature. You can also find statues that depict such things as an elephant, a dragon, giant dogs, walls and even creatures that combine various animal and human characteristics.

Parco dei Mostri is full of symbolism and different interpretations. Practical information

To reach Parco dei Mostri, you can use the A1 Autostrada del Sole. Take either the Orte exit from the south or the Attigliano exit from the north and south, and then follow the clear local signs.

The park is open every day of the year around the clock, Monday to Sunday.

In the months of November , December , January , February from 09:00 to 17:00.from March (with summer time) to September it is open from 09:00 - 19:00. In October open 09:00 - 18:00.
