Amalfi, a town of about 5,000 inhabitants, is located on a part of the coast called Costiera Amalfitana, about 50 km south of Naples.

The Cathedral of St. Andrew (Cattedrale di Sant'Andrea)

The Cathedral of St. Andrew is one of the most iconic sites in Amalfi. Built in the 10th century, the cathedral combines various architectural styles including Romanesque, Gothic, Baroque and Arabic. Arco della Faenza

One of the lesser known but fascinating sites in this town is the Arco della Faenza.

This is an ancient archway that was originally part of a larger complex of buildings. Its history dates back to the Middle Ages, when Amalfi was an important trading centre and maritime republic. The arch was part of the city's infrastructure and served as a passage between different parts of the city. Its name "Faenza" probably refers to the town of Faenza in the Emilia-Romagna region, suggesting a possible trade link between the two cities.the arch is made of local stone and its surface is decorated with fine engravings and ornaments that reflect the artistic taste of the time. To the left of the Arco della Faenza, you can admire a typical artisanal nativity scene composed of stone houses and figurines that reproduce scenes of everyday life in the town.
