If you are on holiday in Otranto, Torre dell'Orso, San Foca, Roca Vecchia or the Laghi Alimini area, or simply travelling around Puglia, we recommend a trip to Torre Sant'Andrea. Unlike the more famous beaches in the area, such as Baia dei Turchi or Torre dell'Orso, Torre Sant'Andrea is often quieter and offers more privacy.
A natural force that shapes the coastline
Torre Sant'Andrea is a place where wind and sea have shaped the rocks into unique forms over the centuries. The most famous are the rock arches (bridges) and the detached cliffs that rise above the sea like stone towers.
The name "Torre" comes from an old watchtower built here by the Spanish in the 16th century to defend against pirate raids. Today, only ruins remain, but the name remains.

What makes Torre Sant'Andrea special?
The turquoise sea. Thanks to the limestone bedrock and clear water, the sea plays with beautiful shades from light blue to deep azure. There are rock arches and limestone towers, natural caves, and small lagoons between the rocks that are ideal for swimming and snorkelling.
And if you land, you can enjoy the sunrise over Torre Sant'Andrea, one of the most beautiful in Puglia.
How to get here?
By car
Torre Sant'Andrea is about 15 km from Otranto and 30 km from Lecce. Parking is possible near the coast.
By bus
In the summer months, there are services from the well-known resorts of Salento.

Practical tips
The best time to visit Torre Sant'Andrea is in the morning or evening, when there are not so many tourists. The rocks are sharp, so water shoes are useful. Also, bring your diving goggles, the underwater world here is rich in fish and marine plants.
The beach is equipped with a water fountain with drinking water. Parking is available off-site and is relatively cheap, with plenty of spaces available. Keep in mind that entering and exiting the water is quite difficult and therefore the beach is not entirely suitable for children.
