Hidden in the heart of Umbria, just outside the town of Montegabbione, is one of Italy's most extraordinary architectural masterpieces - La Scarzuola.

This fascinating complex, created by architect Tomas Buzzi, is not only a haven for art, but also a personal vision that combines mysticism, philosophy and architecture.

The history of La Scarzuola

La Scarzuola has its roots in the 16th century. The original building of La Scarzuola was a Franciscan monastery, supposedly founded by Saint Francis of Assisi himself in 1218. Legend has it that Francis planted the scarza, a type of reed, on this site, which was used to build the first hermitage. This humble act gave the place its name - La Scarzuola.

In 1957, however, it was completely transformed according to the ideas of Buzzi, who wanted to create a space for meditation and artistic inspiration. He set his work in a beautiful natural setting, which became an integral part of his architectural expression.
