This dramatic canyon, created by the Pioverna River, is a place where nature has shown its power and beauty. The name "orrido" comes from Italian and means something like "terrifying" or "but in this case it is more of an admirable natural wonder.

On the north-eastern shore of Lake Como lies the small town of Bellano, which hides one of the area's greatest natural attractions - L'Orrido di Bellano.the confluence was formed more than 15 million years ago when the Pioverna River carved its way through the hard limestone rocks. The erosive force of the water created a deep canyon with steep walls, narrow passages and impressive waterfalls that still fascinate visitors today. Since the 18th century, the site has become a tourist attraction, thanks to which safe hiking trails have been built here.

The main attraction of L'Orrido di Bellano is the wooden walkways and bridges that wind along the canyon walls, allowing visitors to safely peer into its depths. The sound of falling water, the reflections of light on the rocks and the dramatic scenery will literally engulf you. The atmosphere of the gorge is particularly magical in the rain, when the water flow is strongest, and during the evening hours when the place is illuminated.
