Via dell'Amore: a romantic path on the Ligurian Riviera

Via dellAmore

The historic Via dell'Amore, also known as the "Way of Love", is not only one of the most beautifulmost beautiful hiking experience in Italy, but also a symbol of romance and natural beauty.

The Via dell'Amore connects the two Italian villages of Riomaggiore and Manarola in the Cinque Terre region on the north-west coast of Italy.

The path was opened in 1929 and was originally built as a working route for the employees of the railway that connected the Ligurian Sea area. Its purpose was to facilitate movement between the two villages, but over time this practical route has become a popular tourist attraction. In 2012, a landslide occurred here, injuring several hikers. Since then, the trail has been closed to ensure the safety of visitors. But this year, it reopened after 12 long years.

The trail is approximately 1 km long and offers breathtaking views of the blue Mediterranean Sea and steep rocky cliffs.

The path winds along the seashore and offers unforgettable panoramic views. Along the entire length of the path there are benches and resting places where you can enjoy quiet moments, take unique photographs and be enchanted by the natural surroundings.

Don't forget comfortable shoes! Although the trail is relatively short, the terrain can be uneven in places, so it's important to wear appropriate footwear. Bring water and snacks. The trail tends to be very popular in season, so it's a good idea to check on current conditions and any closures. In recent years, the trail has often been closed due to flooding or maintenance, so it's good to have up-to-date information.
