A live nativity scene in Greccio - Lazio
It was here, in 1223, that St Francis first staged a living nativity scene. The tradition continues today, with villagers in historical costumes bringing the story of Bethlehem to life. The scenario is complemented by period craft workshops and live animals, creating an authentic and moving atmosphere. However, you can only see it on certain days (usually 24, 26, 28 and 30 December and then some days in January).
Nativity scene on boats in Cesenatico - Emilia-Romagna
The nativity scene in Cesenatico is also quite unique. In this seaside town in Emilia-Romagna, the historic boats moored in the canal, which is part of the Floating Marine Museum, have been the scene of a nativity scene since 1986 on the initiative of local enthusiasts. Cavallino-Treporti floating nativity scene - Veneto
The floating nativity scene of Cavallino-Treporti is probably the most artistic. Religious figures emerge from the waters of the lagoon, including baby Jesus, Joseph and Mary. The work was created by Francesco Orazio, a greengrocer. Painted plywood figures of nativity scenes are anchored to the bottom.the 400 statues, the exciting story of the Nativity, can be admired along the bike and pedestrian path overlooking the lagoon, all along the Via Pordelio canal.
Bethlehem on the hill - Liguria
