Geographical location and origin
The lake is located at an altitude of approximately 922 metres and its formation is linked to the action of ancient earthquakes and the subsequent landslide that created a natural dam. This geological phenomenon gave rise to the lake, which is today fed by the waters of the Tasso River and mountain springs from the surrounding area.
The lake covers an area of approximately 1 square kilometre and has a depth of around 32 metres, making it one of the deeper mountain lakes in Italy.
Heart shape
