The breathtaking Capelli di Venere or Venus' Hair waterfalls are located in the Campania region. Legend has it that one day the goddess Venus herself found this mysterious place and wanted to rest here for a while. As a young shepherd passed by, he saw the goddess sleeping. His enchantment with Venus' beauty immediately turned to love, and without hesitation he cut a lock of her hair, waking her up. The goddess became angry with the shepherd, turned into water and drowned the shepherd. Once it was over, however, she began to regret her action, and decided to turn the fateful spot into a beautiful waterfall, which to this day commemorates the shepherd's love. The waterfalls are located just one kilometre from the town of Casaletto Spartano, where you can park and take a trip towards the falls. You pay 3 euros per person and the ticket includes access to the falls, the trails and also the picnic area. It's also possible to take a dip, but be warned, the water here is around 6 - 7 degrees and is only ideal for those who like to cool off.
