Isola Varano is a narrow strip of sand in Puglia that separates Lago di Varano from the Adriatic Sea. It is located between the towns of Rodi Garganico and Cagnano Varano in the Gargano National Park. The island is actually a long and narrow dune with rich vegetation and pine forests. The beaches here are wide, with fine sand and a gradual entry into the sea. The quiet environment makes it a popular place for relaxation and nature hiking. The Varano lagoon is used for fishing and eel farming. The area is important for bird watching, especially herons and cormorants. Cyclists and hikers will find trails leading along the coast and inland. Local gastronomy includes fresh fish and seafood, typical of the Gargano. There are traditional villages with an authentic atmosphere. Isola Varano is suitable for lovers of peace, nature and ecotourism. The possibility of excursions to nearby towns offers cultural enrichment. Monte Sant'Angelo, a famous pilgrimage site, is also nearby. Access to the island is possible by car along the road that runs along the lagoon. Thanks to its remoteness, it is still less touristic than other resorts of the Gargano.
