This monumental white marble statue is over 5 metres high. It represents the biblical hero David just before his duel with Goliath.the statue originally stood in the Piazza della Signoria in front of the Palazzo Vecchio, but today it is housed in the Galleria dell'Accademia in Florence, where it is protected from the weather.

 

One of the most important examples of Renaissance architecture in Florence is the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, known as the Duomo.its imposing dome, designed by Filippo Brunelleschi, was the largest of its kind at the time and is still considered an engineering marvel. The interior of the cathedral is decorated with magnificent frescoes, stained glass windows and sculptures that reflect Florence's rich artistic and cultural history. Next to the cathedral are Giotto's bell tower and the Baptistery of San Giovanni with its magnificent bronze doors known as the "Gates of Paradise".
