San Stino di Livenza also has an interesting castle in its historic centre. Castello di San Stino, has a rich history dating back to the 12th century. The first papal bull mentioning the castle of San Stino dates back to 1186. In 1388 it was conquered and burned by the Venetians, but over time it became the residence for noble Venetian families.
The castle is more like a palace than a typical fortification. It is surrounded by dense vegetation and set in a beautiful avenue leading to the local church. Today, visits are limited to the exterior, as the castle is privately owned, but it is still an important historical monument of the town.
