The world's smallest restaurant, aptly named Solo per Due (Just for Two), has been located in central Italy, in the village of Vacone, about an hour from Rome, for more than 30 years. It has just one single table for two diners. Most often, they are a couple in love. It is housed in a historic building in the middle of a well-kept garden with palm trees from all over the world and seating under a pergola overlooking the surrounding countryside.
The food is always prepared using only fresh and carefully selected local ingredients, and the wine comes from Italy's finest vineyards.the waiter is summoned only when necessary, using a small silver bell. The basic price starts at €250 per person, payable in cash (credit cards not accepted). Visits must be booked months in advance and details of the menu and decorations must also be arranged.
If you wish to visit, you can book directly on the Solo per Due website.
The restaurant is part of a country estate, and there is the ruin of an ancient Roman villa on the grounds, which you can also visit. The atmosphere here is truly romantic, and during dinner the garden and the path to the entrance are usually lit with flickering candles.in summer, you can also dine al fresco.
For those coming from afar and intending to stop for the night, the area offers numerous accommodation options.
