Portorosa is a modern port resort in the north-east of Sicily, in the area between Tindari and Capo Milazzo. It is known as one of the largest tourist ports on the island with a capacity for hundreds of boats. It offers luxury hotels, apartments, restaurants and shops aimed at yachtsmen and tourists. The beaches are sandy, with a gentle entrance to the sea. The resort is well connected to the Aeolian Islands, making it an ideal starting point for boat trips. Nearby are the nature reserve Laghetti di Marinello and the archaeological site of Tindari with its ancient theatre. Its focus on water tourism makes it one of the most exclusive holiday areas in the region.
