Livorno is a port town on the Tuscan coast, famous for its important seaport and historical monuments. The city is located on the west coast of Italy and is one of the largest ports in the Mediterranean. Livorno has a rich history which is reflected in its architecture such as fortresses, palaces and Renaissance buildings. The city is also known for its canals, which are reminiscent of Venice, and for its excellent fish cuisine, which includes fresh seafood. Popular tourist attractions include the Fortezza Nuova fortress, the ancient harbour and Piazza della Repubblica.
