The historic centre has narrow streets and typical Sicilian architecture. An important monument is the Church of San Nicola di Bari. Nearby is the archaeological park of Tindari with its ancient theatre and pilgrimage church. The area is known for its excellent Sicilian cuisine, especially fresh fish and local wines. The surrounding hills provide opportunities for hiking and cycling. Annual festivals and cultural events attract visitors from all over the island.
