Amantea is a coastal town in Calabria, located on the Tyrrhenian Sea in the province of Cosenza. It is known for its historic quarter with narrow streets and the ruins of a Norman castle on a hill. The Church of San Bernardino da Siena is one of the most important monuments. The coast offers sandy and pebbly beaches with crystal clear water. The town is popular for its cuisine, especially the dishes of fresh fish and dried figs that are traditionally produced here. The annual Festa di San Francesco di Paola attracts visitors from all over the region. The Scogli di Isca Nature Reserve is nearby, ideal for diving and snorkelling. Amantea is also an important centre of local trade and crafts.
