San Marino is one of the smallest and oldest republics in the world. By population, it is the 2nd smallest European country and the 5th smallest in the world. Yet it is a fascinating place with a rich history, picturesque landscapes and a unique culture.

Although a small republic,San Marino is known for several typical products that are worth bringing home as a souvenir.we have 5 tips that will delight you and your loved ones.

1. Postage stamps and coins

San Marino is famous for its postage stamps and coins. Philatelists and numismatists from all over the world consider them valuable collector's pieces. San Marino stamps are not only beautifully crafted, but also often issued in limited quantities. Some older and rare stamps can therefore have high collector value.

San Marino began issuing its own stamps in the 19th century and since then they have become an important symbol of national identity and culture.

San Marino stamps can be purchased at local post offices, philatelic shops or at various philatelic events.

2. Ceramics

San Marino has a long tradition of ceramic production. Local artisans produce beautifully decorated plates, bowls, vases and other ceramic products. These products are often hand-painted and have unique patterns and colors that reflect the local culture and art.

Ceramic products can be purchased in various shops and workshops throughout San Marino. Many of these workshops offer visitors the opportunity to see artisans at work and learn more about the production process. Ceramics can also be found in local markets and tourist shops.

3. Liqueurs and wines

Liqueurs and wines are an important part of the local cuisine and culture. They are often served at festive occasions, family gatherings and festivals. In addition to liqueurs and wines such as grappa and limoncello, which can be bought elsewhere in Italy, you will find some in San Marino really traditional ones, often made according to old family recipes and passed down from generation to generation.

Limoncello - a traditional liqueur

Traditional local liqueurs include Tilus (a liqueur made from grapes and herbs that has a rich, aromatic flavour and often served as an aperitif or digestif), Doma (a liqueur flavoured with various fruits such as oranges, lemons and othercitrus fruits and is therefore ideal for the summer months), and Fior di Maggio (a liqueur made made from elderflowers and other aromatic plants that bloom in May, giving the drink its name).

Among the wines we teach, we recommend San Marino Rubino (a red wine made from local grape varieties, known for its rich flavour and dark colour), Biancale (mywhite wine, light and refreshing) and Moscato di San Marino (a dessert white wine with an aromatic floral scent, made from the Moscato grape variety).

4. Fashion accessories and jewellery
