Lake Garda has a total of 25 tributaries, the most interesting of which is the Aril River (also called the Ri). It flows through the locality of Cassone near the town of Malcesine and is considered the shortest river in the world !
The official recognised length is 175 metres, but many measurements show several metres less. The river is crossed by three bridges on its short journey and even has its own artificial waterfall.
At one point a small lake has been created which serves as a natural refuge for trout, which regularly return to spawn here - fishing is strictly prohibited on the river.
