A magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck southern Italy shortly after midnight on 2 June 2026. Agencies report that the tremor was felt far from the epicentre. According to the EMSC (European and Mediterranean Seismological Centre), the epicentre of the earthquake was in the sea, off the coast of the Calabria region.
