Sciacca is a coastal town in the south-west of Sicily in the province of Agrigento, famous for its thermal springs and long history. It is situated on the Mediterranean Sea and is one of the most important fishing ports in Sicily. The town has a rich history dating back to antiquity and is known for its Arab and Norman influences. It is dominated by the Castello Luna and several churches with valuable works of art. Sciacca is also famous for its ceramics and its annual carnival with spectacular allegorical floats. The surrounding beaches are popular with tourists, especially because of the calm sea and fine sand. Food lovers will appreciate the fresh fish and seafood, which are among the local specialities. Nearby is the Selinunte Archaeological Park with the remains of ancient temples.
