Corigliano Rossano is a town in Calabria, formed by the merger of the two historic centres of Corigliano Calabro and Rossano. It is located on the Ionian Sea, close to the Sila National Park. Corigliano is famous for its Castello Ducale castle, while Rossano attracts visitors with its Byzantine history, the museum preserving thethe museum houses the famous Codex Purpureus (a rare Byzantine gospel, an illuminated manuscript written on parchment dyed purple) and beautiful churches. The area offers beaches with fine sand and hiking opportunities in the mountains. The local cuisine excels in citrus fruits, olive oil and seafood.
