Santa Maria del Cedro is a seaside resort in the southern Italy, in Calabria, at the coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea between the towns Scalea and Diamante. The original ancient centre of the town is located about 3 km away from the sea, the modern hotels and apatments, restaurants, bars, cake shops and shops are in the newer part of the town.
The area where Santa Maria del Cedro is located, is called Riviera dei Cedri (Cider riviere) according to the local citruses, which are planted here because of the favourable climate conditions. The local famous stomach liquer, limonades, syrups and cady fruits are all produced from cider.
The beach is 8 km long and it has a dark coarse sand with pebbles and a clear sea which invites the visitors for a swim or for sun baths and for romantc walks along the coastline.
