Thanks to its location between Venice, Lake Garda, and the Adriatic coast, it offers an attractive alternative to the airports in Venice or Treviso. In addition, it tends to be less crowded, and navigating the terminal is very straightforward.
Where is Verona Airport located?
The airport is located approximately 12 km southwest of downtown Verona, near the town of Villafranca di Verona. Thanks to its connections to the A4 and A22 highways, it offers excellent access to the entire Veneto region and parts of Friuli-Venezia Giulia.
In terms of distance, Verona isn’t the closest airport to the coast (it’s 150–200 km from popular seaside resorts such as Caorle, Bibione, Jesolo, and Eraclea Mare), but thanks to the high-quality highway network, the trip is relatively comfortable.
Car Rental at Verona Airport
If you’re heading to the northern Adriatic, a car is often the most practical option. The airport is home to a number of well-known international and local car rental companies, and the selection of vehicles is usually very wide.
The drive to Caorle or Bibione is mostly on the highway and is usually straightforward even for less experienced drivers.
How to get from the airport to the coast without a car?
Even without a car, getting to the coast isn’t a problem—you just need to plan for one or two transfers.
Bus to Verona Porta Nuova Train Station
A regular airport shuttle runs from the airport to the Verona Porta Nuova main train station. The trip takes about 15 minutes. From there, train connections continue to Venice, Mestre, Portogruaro, or Latisana.
Train to the Coast
Upon arrival in Venice or Portogruaro, you can continue by bus to individual beach resorts.
The most common routes lead to Bibione, Lignano Sabbiadoro, Caorle, Lido di Jesolo, and Eraclea Mare. Although the journey is longer than from Marco Polo Airport, it is still quite manageable.
Direct Transfers
During the peak summer season, private transfers or hotel shuttle buses are also available to take passengers directly to selected resorts.
This option is particularly popular with families with children or tourists arriving in the evening.
Taxis and private transfers
A taxi is best suited for trips to the center of Verona or the train station. If you’re heading all the way to the coast, a private transfer is usually a more sensible option given the distance.
You can reach Jesolo in about 1 hour and 45 minutes, and Caorle, Bibione, or Lignano in about 2 hours.
Is it worth flying to the coast via Verona?
Yes, especially if you can find a good deal on a flight. While the transfer to the coast takes longer than from Venice Marco Polo, the airport offers good infrastructure, is easy to navigate, and provides convenient connections to the highway network and rail system.
