Why Treviso?
The city of Treviso is often associated with the origins of tiramisu. It is here that the restaurant Le Beccherie is located, which is considered the birthplace of the modern version of this famous dessert. Treviso is also one of the most beautiful historic cities in the Veneto region. You’ll be charmed by its romantic canals reminiscent of a “little Venice,” medieval city walls, picturesque squares, arcades, and historic palaces—all in a pleasant atmosphere free of crowds of tourists. However, many people visit Treviso solely because of the nearby airport. The city itself, though, deserves much more attention. And the Tiramisu Run is a truly great opportunity to get to know it!
What is the Tiramisu Run?
The Tiramisu Run is a newly established 10.1-kilometer running race that will take place on October 11, 2026. The route will wind through the historic center and the surrounding area and is designed not only for experienced runners but also for amateurs and recreational athletes. The organizers’ main goal is to create a pleasant atmosphere that appeals to the general public.
After crossing the finish line (or once you’ve finished walking—the race isn’t strictly competitive, and you can complete the course by walking), participants will be treated to an unlimited serving of freshly prepared tiramisu at the finish line, which is included in the entry fee (so you can have as many servings as you like), and a commemorative Tiramisu Run T-shirt, which is also included in the registration fee.
On the same dates as the Tiramisu World Cup
It’s particularly interesting that the Tiramisu Run will take place during the same weekend as the famous Tiramisu World Cup. Thousands of visitors from all over the world will be heading to Treviso. The city will literally be buzzing with tiramisu in all its forms—from competition recipes and tastings to themed events in restaurants and cafés.
How Did Tiramisu Come to Be?
Although there are several theories about the origin of tiramisu, it is most commonly associated with Treviso. The traditional recipe includes mascarpone, eggs, sugar, coffee, savoiardi ladyfingers, and cocoa powder.
Over the course of several decades, tiramisu has become one of Italy’s most famous desserts, and today you can find it almost everywhere in the world. In Treviso itself, however, you can sample recipes that most closely resemble the original version of this legendary dessert.
What else is there to see in Treviso?
Whether you’re visiting the city for the Tiramisu Run or just for fun, be sure not to miss the Fontana delle Tette (the famous Renaissance fountain), the Pescheria di Treviso (a picturesque fish market on an island in the middle of the canals), Porta San Tomaso (the city’s most beautiful gate), the historic center with its many cafés and pastry shops, and, above all, a taste of authentic tiramisu at local establishments!
