The seaside area of Cavallino-Treporti is one of the most popular holiday destinations near Venice. If you plan to stay in a hotel, apartment or campsite here, you will have to pay a local tax calledimposta di soggiorno. This tourist tax is levied by the municipality on visitors staying overnight in accommodation in its territory.

What is the sojourn tax

The sojourn tax is a local tourist tax paid by visitors when staying in hotels, apartments, B&Bs, campsites or tourist resorts.

The money collected is used by the municipality for things such as tourism development, maintenance of beaches and public areas, infrastructure improvements and services for tourists.

The fee is not included in the price of accommodation and is usually paid directly to the accommodation provider at check-out.

When the tourist tax is paid

In Cavallino-Treporti the residence tax is only collected during the tourist season, i.e. from 1 May to 30 September. Outside this period, the fee is usually not charged.

Maximum number of nights charged

The tax is only charged for a limited period of stay, a maximum of 10 consecutive nights per person. So if you stay for two weeks, for example, you will only pay the sojourn tax for the first 10 nights.
