The bridge was built between 14 and 21 AD on the orders of Emperor Tiberius. It was originally intended to serve as a key transport link between Rimini and the interior of the Apennine Peninsula.
Ponte di Tiberio is made of travertine stone. It is over 70 metres long and 8 metres wide, and has five arches that arch gracefully over the Marecchia River. Interestingly, the bridge has never been completely rebuilt. It is therefore one of the best preserved Roman monuments in Italy.

Symbol of Rimini and centre of life
Although the bridge is over 2,000 years old, it can still be crossed on foot and, until recently, cars used to drive over it. Now it is only for pedestrians and cyclists.
The bridge is one of the main historical symbols of Rimini and attracts visitors interested in Roman monuments.it is located at the beginning of the Borgo San Giuliano district, known for its atmosphere and picturesquestreets full of cafés, bars and artistic murals inspired by Federico Fellini. Other important sights such as the Roman Forum and the famous Arco di Augusto are also nearby.
Rimini itself is known for its tourist atmosphere and rich history, but the Ponte di Tiberio has become a symbol of this city, whose beauty and historical monuments attract tourists from all over the world.various cultural events are held around the bridge, including historical reenactments, festivals and summer evening gatherings.

The reflection in the Marecchia River and the beautiful lighting at night make the bridge a popular spot for photography.
