Brisighella, one of the small towns in Emilia-Romagna, is set among the rocks and vineyards near Ravenna and offers a combination of medieval architecture, beautiful views and a peaceful atmosphere. Above all, it will tempt you with its three iconic peaks, the unique Via degli Asini covered street and a colourful centre that has retained its authentic character. It's a great place for a short trip and a stop on your way through the Apennines.

The medieval city of three peaks

Brisighella is built along three rocky cliffs, on top of which stand the three symbols of the town:

  • Rocca Manfrediana (castle): a 14th-century fortress with a beautiful view of vineyards and olive groves.

  • Torre dell'Orologio: originally a watchtower, today an iconic site overlooking the entire historic centre.

  • Santuario del Monticino: pilgrimage site on the third hill, ideal for sunset.

The walk between the peaks is one of the most beautiful experiences - a simple route, but postcard-like views.

The historic centre is small but charming. Pastel facades, stone details and small cafes create a welcoming atmosphere.

Via degli Asini - covered alley

Brisighella's most famous street has the poetic name of the Donkey's Path. It originally served as a covered way for the donkeys that transported gypsum from the nearby mines. Today it is a unique through corridor with arches and views of the colourful street below.

City of olive oil and good food

Brisighella is famous for its extra virgin olive oil DOP, one of the best in Italy. Thanks to the microclimate of the Lamone Valley, the oil has a delicate taste with a hint of almond. Don't miss out on tasting it - there are local producers and small shops at every turn.

But local specialities also include piadina romagnola, fresh pasta (tagliatelle, cappelletti), cheese with olive oil from Brisighella, and Sangiovese wine from the surrounding hills.

Surroundings full of nature and trails

Just a few minutes from the centre of Brisighella, trails start to the Parco della Vena del Gesso Romagnola, a protected nature park with its characteristic white gypsum rocks. It's the perfect place for easy hikes, photography and views of the whole valley.
